Valentines: a holiday or hell?

Normaly and in general I hate valentines day (or in other words: singles awareness day). Sure I've had boyfriends that took me out on that day, but that day in particular was never exciting. Giving your "significant other" cheesey roamantic propoganda, going and standing in long lines of people, or eating in restraunts that are loud and filled with peoples just doesn't sound like fun to me. I even went and bought my own Valentines card this year. It has a black heart on the front with devil horns and it says "Valentines Day" in the heart. On the inside of the card it says "when holidays and hell collide". I found this card to be everything I was thinking and brilliant!

This year however, turned out to be different. I had meantioned something to my brother Kyle a month ago about Valenetines day and how I didn't want certain someone doing anything for me. I didn't want the cheeseyness, I didn't want to flaunt that I had a date to anyone, and I certainly didn't want to get all dressed up. I even meantioned this to a friend of mine who happens to be that certain someone's room mate which came the reply of "what ever he's got planned for you, just go along with it." I smiled and didn't think more of it after that.

The following night I got off of work and when I went out to my truck I found a bucket of candy and card asking me to be his valentine. I got excited and went to the store and got him a cake that said "I'll be your valentine". Needless to say we had cake for the next week. He only gave me 2 details about what we were going to be doing: 1. wear a formal dress and 2. be ready by 7:00pm.

Sure enogh he showed up close to 7:00 looking really hot wearing a navy blue and black tux. I was wearing a formal dress that was amazing looking and my room mate had done my hair so it was all pulled up. I felt good except for the shoes. We met my brother Kyle and his date at the Thanksgiving point ball. It was a really fancy and high class dinner and dance with a live jazz band and entertainment.

We ate, we laughed, we took pictures, we dance, we had a great time.

After dancing we went back to my place and watched a bit of a movie, kissed good night, and I went to sleep happy and very greatful for this years valentines and very greatful that I had the best date on valentines with that special someone!

Hey! I'm glad you had fun. I wish my date would have me dress up all nice and fancy sometimes. I guess we dont always get what we want.
